The purpose of Bannau is to provide an extended curriculum for children and young people up to the age of 19. Golwg y Gamlas, known as Camlas, is respite care provision adjoining Bannau on the campus of Penmaes. It has three beds and is open all year excluding Christmas and Bank Holidays.

The purpose of Camlas is to provide respite care for families of children with complex needs. Respite care is offered for single or multiple nights.

Camlas has a lounge, kitchen/dining room and toilet downstairs and two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. The third bedroom has a specialist bed and an en-suite bathroom that is fully accessible with a ceiling track hoist. Children in respite care can also access the grounds and facilities of the school in the evenings and may also be taken out into the community and local towns.
